My weekend in pictures

Nothing majorly exciting happened this weekend, I spent it mainly in my PJ's just relaxing. Also a lot of cleaning, cooking and working my way through a heap of uni work that I needed to get done. I made a bit of progress with the eight-minute documentary on Busking. Recruted a few buskers who want to help us out, sent about 100 emails to people of interest, loads of research on the topic and looked up the filming permit we need for the underground! I vowed to myself that I would use my camera more, I got it so I could take some decent photographs at Glastonbury and it cost me a fortune, I don't think it should be sitting in a draw, so here is my weekend in pictures!

Chris' best friend turned 21 so we made him a chocolate cake. Two layers of chocolate sponge filled with vanilla icing, covered in chocolate frosting, topped with grated white chocolate and white stars and mini chocolate beans!
Following on from my blog about shabby chic, my beautiful magnets arrived from Ebay!
Look Magazine for £1 = BARGAIN. I much prefer Cosmo and such, but I need to start cutting back on magazines which I barely read, so this was the perfect solution.
Homemade lasagne! One of my favourite meals, was so scrummy!

All I want for Christmas is cute baking accessories!

Those who are reading along with my blog will know that following making our documentary on a cake maker, my love for making and baking has probably tripled! I don't even like eating them (contrary to what most people believe!) but I love people's faces when you bring them yummy things. I'm totally in love with the whole Shabby Chic thing at the moment, my flat is starting to get more and more cluttered with cute things that I keep buying from Next and Ebay, which Chris just keeps moaning about. I think he should count himself lucky though, because if we were allowed to decorate and put things on the wall he'd definitely find himself in Shabby Chic land. I'm far too addicted! So my love for Shabby Chic has spreaded and I've found myself lusting over beautiful baking things, one of my friends from Uni is buying me a cake stand which i'm mega excited about, but my need for cute baking accessories goes much further than that, here are just three things that I'm in love with! God I've just realised how sad I sound, but I have to admit I'm quite happy to have found a hobby that I'm really enjoying, even if it is mega expensive!

Cake stand - Next - £14, Measuring spoons - Next - £5.50, Mixing bowl - Debenhams - £15

The things I want this week!

(Cookie monster PJ's £19.99 New Look, Slippers 12.99 New Look, Petite black quilted jacket £55 Dorothy Perkins)
The things I really want this week have definitely been inspired by the winter weather, all the rain and cold is just making me want to wrap up in my duvet and go no where! And if I do have to go anywhere I've been lusting over a jacket like this one for a long time. Although, I may need to find one a little cheaper somewhere! The cookie monster PJ's reminded me of the documentary shoot me and the Hour Glass Production team went on last Thursday! I want, I want, I want! Chris keeps telling me that I have to wait till Christmas for a new pair of slippers but I won't tell if you don't! haha!

Addicted to baking

Those who know me know that I absolutely love baking! It's kind of an addiction, in fact I love cooking in general and I happen to be getting quite good at it (even if I do say so myself!). Since getting my own flat I've been able to make good, healthy food that I enjoy, rather than processed rubbish! I'm totally embracing it this year and there's very little that I get out of a jar/packet anymore! I think one of the only things I do is Ragu sauce for lasagne. Mainly because when I was doing my GCSE's I picked Macaroni Cheese for my adaptative dish and I've made enough white sauces to send me into a coma!

Last weekend was well and truly a cook-a-thon! Me and Chris spent ages baking treats for when his family came down for the day! Rice crispie cakes, bakewell tart and jam tarts, not to mention that I made my famous chocolate brownies that I have now totally perfected! I was going to make my other famous treat (chocolate tiffin) but I would have been way to tempted to munch some - it's my absolute favourite!

Beautiful rice crispie cakes

Jam tarts before they hit the oven

Bakewell tart before it got cut

As well as all the sweet treats I made my famous curry feast! (I seem to be famous for a lot of good food?!) Chicken korma, chicken tikka, bombay pototoes, a selection of poppadom sauces, rice and naans! It went down very well and we were completely stuffed!

Excuse my blog bragging about my cooking skills, just a little story for you all!

Four Sons Versus Four Daughters

It was rather weird that after I watched the documentary about women not being content with their families, that I’d go on the watch a documentary about parents that couldn’t be happier! Four Sons Versus Four Daughters was a documentary that followed two families as they swapped children for the weekend. The whole idea being, to find out if the gender of your children shapes the parents, the things they enjoy and their outlook on life.

Reviewing Documentary Television

Documentary is definitely the genre of television that fascinates me the most, mainly because it comes in such a range of forms and that in can capture a person’s creativity and thoughts so cleverly.

The Winter Blues

Although you wouldn’t believe it, there isn’t much I can’t bare in life, but being too cold or too hot is definitely one of the things that I find unbearable.

An old fashioned magazine

As much as I love this highly technical world I seem to live in, quite openly admit to being addicted to blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and most others, sometimes I can't help but think it goes a little too far!

Sometimes I wish my mum was here

It's not very often that I sit and wish my mum was here, but today the feeling really hit me hard.

Reality Television

Reality Television, one of the genres which I think most definitely divides the population, but for me it is one of my guilty pleasures, I absolutely adore it! I completely binge on it from Made in Chelsea, to the Apprentice from My Gypsy Wedding to Don't tell the Bride, I watch it all!
