20 Years of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I’m not sure I can actually believe that this year, Caudalie are celebrating 20 years of their Beauty Elixir. The Caudalie Beauty Elixir was created back in 1997, when Mathilde Thomas set out to recreate the historical ‘elixir of youth’, which was prepared for Queen Isabelle of Hungary. She decided to reinterpret the mysterious herbal infusion for herself, which is when she created the Caudalie Beauty Elixir*. Mathilde pitched it as a modern woman’s elixir – it was super quick to apply and left the skin instantly refreshed. Of course, the new Beauty Elixir was perfect for Mathilde, but little did she know that she was carving a brand new path in skincare. To celebrate the anniversary of its Beauty Elixir, Caudalie has created a special edition bottle with delicate golden details. The special bottle is stamped with a gold metal vine and the frosted glass bottle is crowned with a gold cap.




Although the Caudalie Beauty Elixir is now a part of skincare history, at the time of its release, it was seen as quite the modern product. It paved the way paraben free and vegan-friendly products, well before the widespread infatuation with plant-based ingredients! When you spritz the Caudalie Beauty Elixir onto the skin, the air is instantly filled with notes of benzoin, myrrh, astringent rosemary, lemon balm and mint. These ingredients are met with softening orange blossom, grape and rose, which help create a radiant complexion. The ingredients are really gentle in the skin, but are still rich in essential oils – working to visibly tighten pores and smooth the skin.
