The Highlighters You Need To Try This Season

If you know me well, you’ll know that I’m quite the highlighter obsessive! It’s the one thing that I can never resist, despite the fact I already have far too many in my collection! No matter what look you’re looking for this summer, there’s a pretty highlighter for you to add to your collection. Here are six new highlighters I’ve been road testing and some reasons that you’ll love them too!

Mary-Lou Manizer* (£20)
Use when: you want something that is fabulously multi-purpose
This one is actually an old favourite that I’ve been reunited with this last month! It was actually the first product I ever tried from the Balm and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! The Mary-Lou Manizer is one hell of a highlighter, which is designed to really pack a punch on the skin! It arrives in a huge compact that will last forever, as it’s just so pigmented that you need a tiny touch of product for a huge impact. What I love about this one is that it’s a lovely gold hue, which can be used as a highlighter, an eyeshadow or a subtle shimmer.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Diamond Dust* (£21)
Use when: you’re craving that diamond finish
If you’re a long time follower of my blog, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of the cult-classic Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators. Not only are they a show-stopping design, inspired by ice cream – they are also a gorgeous formulation. They apply like a powder, but feel like a cream – offering a buildable translucent wash of luminous colour. For Laura Geller’s 20th birthday they have created the brand new ‘Diamond Dust’ shade, which is a universally flattering shade is perfect for all skin tones.

Highlighter by 3INA* (£10)
Use when: you want a subtle pop of gold on the cheeks
This highlighter is brand new to my collection and it’s created by 3INA, a brand who believes in freedom of expression. This is a little black square compact, which houses a pretty gold highlighter inside. It’s not crazy pigmented, but it is pigmented enough to create a luminous finish on the skin. It has a powder-cream texture, which is actually a patented formula. You can apply it everywhere from your cheekbones and temples, to your cupid's bow, shoulders and collarbones.

Too Faced Love Light in ‘You Light Up My Life’* (£25)
Use when: you want an indulgent pop of pink
Have you ever seen something so beautiful as the Love Light highlighters from Too Faced? They are such a gorgeous design featuring a heart-shaped compact, with a highlighter that offers a buildable pearl radiance. Too Faced opted for the best of all worlds, taking the best features from liquid, baked and cream formulations to create this one of a kind powder. It’s created by using an exclusive liquid-to-powder freeze dry process, which creates a silky smooth texture, with unrivalled colour payoff. The shade ‘You Light Up My Life’ is the most beautiful pop of pink, which just feels so special every time you use it! Swoon!

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome* (£9)
Use when: you’re on the go
This lovely highlighter dome from The Body Shop, offers a creamy, lightweight formulation in a handy dome shape. It means that you can simply unscrew the lid and tap it whenever you want a glow. It needs very little blending (in fact I can get away without it), which means that it’s the perfect on-the-go option! The formula is infused with honey and leaves the skin with a natural-looking, shimmery glow!

L’Oreal Paris True Match Powder Illuminator Icy Glow* (£7.99)
Use when: you want a little bit of choice
What I love about the True Match Powder Illuminator is that in one small compact, you get a lot of choice! When you flip the lid, you find a collection of four gorgeous iridescent powder highlighters. Each of them have their own distinct colour, which means you can use them on their own and switch up your look, or blend them together for an ‘icy glow’. This product is a good all-rounder, as you can apply it where light naturally hits the face, or apply it all over the face for a glowing illumination.
