Brand focus: Sainsbury’s Boutique

I talk a lot on Hope, Freedom, Love about the rise of the high street stores and how it’s changing the face of the makeup industry. I’m a lover high end beauty that you can really indulge in, but sometimes you want or need a beauty bargain. It’s absolutely fantastic that you can into Superdrug or Boots and walk out with a handful fantastic makeup products for under £20. Now the supermarkets want a piece of the action and they want to be taken seriously! I first saw this range in my local supermarket and I feel super lucky to have a selection of products to share with you.

The lineup of the Sainsbury’s Boutique collection has everything you could ever want. There’s smokey eyeshadow palettes, there are lipsticks, nail polishes and blushers. Each item comes packaged in sleek black matte packaging, finished with the Sainsbury’s Boutique logo.

The eyeshadow palettes are available in two different colour combinations and each feature four shades. My palette is called ‘Putting Two And Two Together*’ and features four beautiful neutral shades, which all have individual names. ‘Worth Its Salt’ is top left and it’s a lovely matte cream, top right we have ‘In A Nutshell’ which is pretty orange-brown. Bottom left we have ‘Nudge Nudge Wink Wink’ which is a lovely grey and finally bottom right we have ‘A Nod Is As Good As A Wink’ which is a chocolate brown. The colours in the palette are lightly pigmented and blend nicely.

On top of the eyeshadow palettes, you can get your hands on a variety of different single eyeshadows in different formulations. I have ‘Forty Winks*’ which is a stunning shimmer taupe and ‘Nudge Nudge Wink Wink*’ which eagle eyes will notice is the same shade as the palette. I personally found that the individual eyeshadows are more pigmented than the eyeshadow palette, especially the shimmer hues.

If eyeshadow doesn’t take your fancy you might like the lipsticks, which are really creamy and lovely shades. ‘Bed Of Roses*’ is a pretty pink hue and ‘In The Buff*' is a traditional nude. The last product that I’ve been testing is a blusher shade called ‘Halcyon Days*’. I think this is by far the most pigmented product from everything I tried. It’s a lovely peach blusher and it has some gold glitter running through it, so pretty!

Above I've swatched everything for you so you can compare the shades. From top to bottom we have; the Halcyon blusher, In The Buff lipstick, Bed of Roses lipstick, Forty Winks eyeshadow, Nudge Nudge Wink Wink eyeshadow and finally In A Nutshell eyeshadow. As you would expect, the Sainbury’s Boutique range is incredibly cheap, with all products costing less than £10. Check out the lineup when you’re next in your local store!
