As soon as I heard about the Givenchy Matissime Velvet range, I knew I wanted to try it! The whole range is about creating radiant skin, without the skin looking shiny or oily – which is a godsend for someone like me! Nicolas Degennes (the makeup artist for Givenchy) wanted to create what he describes as a ‘radiant matte’ and I think that is exactly what they’ve achieved! The new Matissime Velvet range has three new products, which have been inspired by the feel of velvet. I have two of the products from the line and I’m here to tell you all about them!
Nicolas Degennes’ inspiration for the line was the velvet fabric, he loves the way that it’s capable of both absorbing and reflecting light. His goal was to create a range that had the same effect on the skin. The Matissime Velvet range is an innovative collection which pairs new formulas, with a finish that offers natural, velvety skin. The finish is matte, whilst still offering blurring properties, which even out the skintone and conceal irregularities on the skin.
In order to achieve such a unique formulation, Givenchy used a combination of black cuminseed oil, ginger, burnet, cinnamon and silica microbeads. The black cuminseed oil purifies the skin, whilst the ginger, burnet, cinnamon boost the mattifying effect on the skin, by helping to tighten pores. The silica microbeads have been used to absorb moisture and excess sebum, giving the skin a perfectly matte finish. The last thing that Givenchy adds to the formulation is the pigments, which are perfectly matched to different complexions. Givenchy coat the pigments in amino acids, which gives you an even skintone, which offers you the veil of natural radiance over the skin.
I’ve been making good use of the new dynamic duo from Givenchy, the Givenchy Matissime Velvet Liquid Foundation* and the Givenchy Matissime Velvet Liquid Compact Foundation*. The Liquid Foundation is unlike anything I’ve tried before, it is very lightweight but gives you a decent coverage. The matte finish takes a little bit of blending on the skin, but once it’s there it gives you a flawless finish that really lasts the distance. The liquid foundation retails for £35 and is available in eight different shades. Givenchy say that the Matissime Velvet Liquid Compact Foundation is a loyal compact and I can see why! This is a lovely powder compact, which gives you a pretty wash of coverage. You can of course use this on it’s own, but I like to use this to set the foundation in place – I also love chucking this in my handbag for emergency touch-ups. The Matissime Velvet Liquid Compact Foundation is available in six shades and it retails for £40.
Of course, being Givenchy the quality of these products is second to none, offering the best ingredients in packaging that looks and feels high quality. I love that both the liquid and powder foundations arrive in beautiful, famous Givenchy packaging, finished in glossy black packaging and the Givenchy logo. Together the Givenchy Matissime Velvet foundations give you everything you need this spring/summer – great formulas, great coverage and that glowing from within radiance we all desire. The full collection is available right now!
