There’s no denying that ‘matte’ always seems to be a thing for spring. Although we saw a lot of dewy, glossy lips on the catwalks for this season, there’s no hiding that matte lips are back again. To celebrate the start of spring, Sleek MakeUP have introduced a whole new line of matte products and I’m here to give you the low down!
The new Matte Me Ultra Smooth Lip Creams* have been inspired by spring pastel hues and I’m obsessed with them! They arrive in a square lipgloss tube, which is finished with simple black writing which describes the product inside. The tub is topped with a matte black lid, which has a gloss Sleek logo on one side – all in all it actually feels pretty premium. Inside the tube, the wand is topped with a handy doe foot applicator, which makes them very easy to apply.
The new products are all about creating a statement with your pout, which screams spring but also brings something new to the table. The highly pigmented pastel shades are just beautiful – there is ‘Crushed Lavender’ which is a soft pastel lavender shade. The second shade is ‘French Fancy’ which is a classic mid-tone pink. The last shade is ‘Apricot Blooms’ which is just the perfect pastel peach, the perfect coral hue for this time of year!
I’ve swatched these all below, from top to bottom there’s ‘Crushed Lavender’, ‘French Fancy’ and ‘Apricot Blooms’ - you can see in the swatches just how pigmented they are! I love that the colour is so true to what you see in the tube, there’s no messing around to get the colour payoff you want! My favourite of the three is ‘French Fancy’ as it’s the easiest to wear and it just looks lovely with any makeup look.
The best bit is that the Matte Me Ultra Smooth Lip Creams only cost £4.99, which makes them an absolute bargain. I actually wish these lip creams had matching nail polish shades, as I know that I’d rock these for months on end! Whether, like me, you want to play it safe with French Fancy, or you want something a bit more daring like ‘Crushed Lavender’ – I think these are well worth a fiver!
